Responsible commitment

FDE (Française De l’Énergie) is an energy production Group, specialized in the implementation of energy recovery and production sites with a low carbon footprint. FDE supplies regional players with locally sourced gas, electricity and heat, thus benefiting local stakeholder in the areas where operate mainly in France and Europe.

Carbon footprint reduction

FDE’s objective is to supply an economical and ecologically competitive energy to the local residents, communities and industrials where we operate : Grand-Est, Hauts-de-France, Wallonia. Today, our group is the only French energy producer with a negative carbon footprint, due to the locally sourced solutions that we develop.

IMPACT OF FDE’S ACTIVITY

* Report from the University of Mons of 02/10/2022
** Belgian average: 8.18 tonnes of Co2 / inhabitant / year, Source World Bank (year 2018)

In France, using the updated IPCC assessment report (AR6) for 20 years on the actual sites*, the group’s abandoned mine methane capture and production activity avoids more than 3.5 million tons of CO2eq per year**, confirming the leading role of FDE in the European ecological transition.

* Source FDE, based on INERIS 2019 certification updated using a GWP of 82.5 and including Bethune’s site
** Uncertified number at this stage

In the Lorraine region, where the group is planning to capture the coal bed methane without the use of hydraulic fracturing or any equivalent technique, the use of this local resource would reduce the carbon footprint by a factor of 10 compared to the gas imported from Russia, the North Sea or the United-States while contributing to the energy independence of our country*.

FDE’s activities lie within the scope of the United Nations sustainable development goals.
